ABOUT MIKE

Mike Rembis is an actor, screenwriter, director and Executive Producer at Best Productions in Clearwater, Florida.

Since 2001, he has continually studied acting under the tutelage of Broadway actor, Corinne Broskette, who appeared in original productions of HAIR and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and also studied at the original NYC Actors Studio as a direct student of Lee Strasberg. This training has helped Mike find himself on stage in local notable productions and dozens of roles on screen. Adopting the Strasberg method also put him in a unique position to apply his training to the direction of other actors.

As a writer/director, Mike created the TV show BEST, a comedy about a car rental on an island where nobody needs a car. He filmed the BEST pilot and in 2008 screened it at both the Banff World Television Festival and the Festival de Cannes Short Film Corner. While in Cannes, he was invited to participate in the Cannes 24 Hour Film Challenge and produce a five minute film in a day. He garnered the Grand Prize with PERFECT PITCH, a buddy comedy about a starlet who can’t sing at a singing lesson.

In addition to these accomplishments, Mike is a screenwriter with several yet to be produced screenplays to his credit. He has been recognized for his writing talent by placing three times as a semifinalist and quarterfinalist in Scriptapalooza in the feature film and TV competitions, as a runner up in the Nicholl Fellowships in Screen Writing and a top ten finalist in the Boston International Film Festival Screenplay to Production contest for the feature script GREAT FALLS.

Mike was soon commissioned to co-write two feature film scripts with producer/director Din S. Altit. One of those films, UNPUNISHED is now in development with Streetwise Productions.

For a short time, Mike lived in Austin Texas, where he founded the Austin Filmmakers Meetup group. Under his guidance, the group produced three short films and a commercial in it’s first six months. The group, now called the Austin Film Meet, still meets weekly and several films are now in development as a result of the groups 200+ members. (www.austinfilmmeet.com)

Mike is now in pre-production on his first feature film with a script written by Ray Rosales of Austin. SOMETIMES CALLED FALLING IN LOVE, a dark romantic comedy about an unlikely couple who meet at a their high school reunion. When the guys body is found decapitated in his freezer with the ice cubes, the girl becomes the prime suspect and her world is thrown out of whack - especially because he’s still alive! It’s a case of love on the rocks, with a twist. A cast that has yet to be determined.

The Clearwater Film Festival is his biggest challenge to date and he is excited to see it take shape. Mike is represented for acting by Sue Miller at The Miller Agency in Tampa and for writing by George Doulamis at ADA Management in Palm Beach Gardens.
