Call them words without songs. Or something like that. Whatever you like.
If you like verse that rhymes, boy oh boy, have I got some treats for you.
COFFEE
Coffee is one of my oldest works, written in 1995 in Salt Lake City.
Somehow, the muse hit me just right and I wrote a story about a search for the perfect cup of coffee, a fifteen-page poem. After committing it to memory, I performed it several times for friends in impromptu settings, and a few times on stage.
I even performed it on KGLT radio in Bozeman, Montana. LISTEN RIGHT NOW!
My friend Robert DeWitt liked it so much he turned it into a stage play and put on two performances at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at St. Petersburg College, complete with original music, costumes, and dance numbers!
Thanks, Rob! You're the best!

The Diary of Romeo Slim and The Cold White Room: A Poet's Dream
This is an even older piece of work than Coffee. Penned in the 1980's, long before I wrote long-form essays, screenplays, and novels, I just liked making things rhyme.
Because poetry is from the heart and soul, and editing was not big on my to do list, after letting my notebooks languish for years, I decided to compile all my favorites into this edition and gave it a really long name, because I couldn't decide which one I liked best.
Nothing to explain, no story or theme, but I like to think there is something to it. I leave these to your interpretation.
Thanks for reading!
